German Cities and Federal Counties (Bundesländer):
www.berlin.de
Everything you need to know about Germany's capital. Entertainment, politics, art, night-life, it's all here. Since Berlin is reinventing itself, it is a most exciting place to be for any life-loving visitor (even online).

www.hamburg.de
Germany's northern centre: The old Hanseatic city of Hamburg is proud of its past as both a centre of world-wide trade as well as early independence as Free City during the 12th century. The North Sea flair of the city attracts many visitors each year.
www.koeln.de
Germany's Western centre, basically known for its long-standing carnival tradition and entertainment aspects (comedy). One of Germany's most popular private TV-station, RTL, is at home in Koln.
www.frankfurt.de
Germany's financial centre is not only the home town of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe but the house of Europe's Central Bank. Since Frankfurt's airport was enlarged recently, the city as well as the entire area have become even more cosmopolitan.
www.muenchen.de
Germany's proud city of Munich is the country's Southern centre. Both colourful and opulent life-style have turned Munich into an attraction for centuries. The lovely environment (the Alps) in the South as well as many local and national celebrity have determined Munich to become one of Germany's most expensive and stylish places to be.
www.leipzig.de
Both Leipzig and Dresden have become symbols of the peaceful revolution in 1989. Besides the significance of the recent past, both cities had been major centres of German and European Classicism, Romanticism, and Modernism. A must for any visitor (anticipation is half the fun, online of course). This is why it's exciting to be in Leipzig or Dresden, as both cities have quite succeeded in pursuing their cultural heritage again.

Länder
www.brandenburg.de
What used to be Prussia until recently has been renamed to its actual historical name: Brandenburg. Although people are still called Prussians, Brandenburg is an important Land as it manifests many of the historical influences that have determined Germany's history for 300 years (Prussia turned 300 last year - 1701-20001).
www.bayern.de
Germany's biggest Land, Bayern, is populated by the Franks in the north and the Bavarians in the south. This link does not hesitate to promote any aspect of typically Bavarian culture and history.
www.sachsen.de
Like Bavaria, Saxony is one of Germany's three Free States. Saxony looks back upon an opulent history (The Augustan Age turned Dresden into Germany's most admired Baroque city). The variety of the Free State with its various local cultures and traditions is presented on this link.
www.thueringen.de
Germany's cradle of Protestantism (Martin Luther) is the central county of the nation. With its rich mediaeval past, old cities, and the lovely Harz mountains, Thuringen became Germany's classic literary centre under the influence of Goethe and Schiller who both worked and lived in Weimar. Thuringen is Germany's third Free State.
