German Contemporary Music (bands, singers, etc..)
www.herbertgroenemeyer.de
Herbert Groenemeyer has been Germany's most acknowledged song-writer and musician for almost 2 decades now. He has released a large number of albums which were all big sellers as well as acclaimed master-pieces. Groenemeyer started out as an actor in the first place, but while working on a score for a film he discovered his love for popular music. His influences are various, rock, classic music, or even Eastern elements have made it into his worthwhile compositions. Groenemeyer in concert is a blast Ð his voice is quite distinct from many other singers, therefore the personal notion he offers to any of his songs becomes even more spectacular when performed live. A CD-DVD compilation was released recently which features a concert he gave last year in the fall.

This is the link that takes you to Germany's funniest punk band: Die Ärzte. This trio of unique people was formed in the early 80's (right after punk had emanated in England), the band's founding members Bela B. and Farin Urlaub still being the landmark of this band. South American Rodrigo Gonzales was recruited several years ago. Anyway, die Ärzte refer to themselves as the best band in the whole wide world, which they have proved to be on various albums, their most recent release being published only months ago. This band is well-known for a number of very catchy tunes with highly controversial lyrics. The fun part is that these guys reflect on a certain popular mood or notion and add a very witty ironic twist to it. This was demonstrated by their latest single which was a huge hit only months ago.
