Sound Control Instructions
If you are here then you are having a problem hearing sound on the computer
you are working on. These instructions are designed only as a guide and
may not be completely appropriate depending on your situation. They are also
tailored for computers on the CU Boulder campus in ITS facilities (although
even these are not set exactly the same!).
Macintosh Instructions:
Double click the icon in the upper right hand corner.
Double click the System Folder.
Find the Control Panels folder and double click that.
Find either the Sound or the Monitors and Sound icon and double click it.
If you have the Monitors and Sound icon, click the sound button on the top row of the new window.
Move the system volume (left hand slide bar) all the way to the right.
If you have the Sound icon make sure that the left window has Output selected and the right window has Built-in selected.
Move the slide bar all the way to the right.
Make sure that there is no button selected which may mute all sound.
Click "Back" and try the movie or sound file again!
PC Instruction
Click the Start button in the lower left hand corner.
Click Run from that menu.
In the box that comes up type Sndvol32.exe.
Move the left most slide bar all the way up
Make sure there is nothing selected to mute all sound.
Click "Back" and try the movie or sound file again!
NOTE: If you are still not able to hear sound, you may have to find a computer
with speakers attached to the outside or one with headphones available. Ask
the person at the desk in the lab for help (if that person is available).
