ALTEC offers a number of programs for the study and instruction of foreign languages, several of which are conducted in collaboration with other members of the language learning community. ALTEC has increased the number of active programs over the last couple of years. We are in touch with the needs of our language community and these programs are developed in response to your unique needs. We are happy to receive your feedback on our active programs as well as your thoughts for future additions.
The Non-credit Classes are language enrichment courses that we offer every fall and spring here at ALTEC. We do our best to offer both popular languages such as Spanish or French as well as less commonly taught languages such as Swedish. These non-credit classes run for eight weeks and are open to anyone from the CU or Boulder community.
The Refresher Courses are ALTEC's online non-credit language courses (French, Spanish and German). These self-paced courses review important aspects of the curriculum of the first two years of university-level language instruction and help prepare students for third year courses.
The SLA workshop is a reading group led by our Director, Mark Knowles: firstname.lastname@example.org, 303-492-2355. The group meets twice monthly to discuss recent publications in the field of Second Language Acquisition.
The Foreign Language Technology Program The Foreign Language Technology Program (FLTP) is a non-degree program offering training in the theories and practices ofinstructional technologies. The workshops are open to all CU-Boulder graduate students, faculty, and instructors of foreign languages. ALTEC offers an average of eight workshops per semester and an annual portfolio intensive.
Outreach: ALTEC is involved in several outreach initiatives including two STARTALK grants and a Saturday program in technology integration in the foreign language classroom for K-12 teachers.
