Father and child crossing a line taken from aboveSince the summer of 2015, Germany has experienced a large influx of refugees mostly from war-torn countries such as Syria, Iraq, Eritrea, and Afghanistan. This inflow of refugees has dominated political and social debates and is posing the significant challenge of integrating hundreds of thousands of people from different cultures into German society.

The CU German Club and GRMN 2020 is looking at the experience of refugees who embarked on the long trek to Germany, their encounters with German culture, and their attempts to integrate into this new society. The discussion of integrating these humanitarian migrants—a process with economic, social and cultural dimensions—is portrayed through artistic means and will be presented the artists themselves using the German language.

The German art exhibit will be shown in Hellems, room 159, and is free and open to the public.
