Welcome! Whether you are a new language student or are already in the process of learning a language, the Anderson Language & Technology Center (ALTEC) is dedicated to making language learning resources readily available and easily accessible.

Library and Study Space

Our library is home to hundreds of foreign language films, books, magazines, and textbooks in over 20 different languages from all over the globe, which are available for student use. Our student staff is also here to provide language specific support to those acquiring other languages. Most of our staff either speak more than one language or are in the process of learning another language. So whether it be recommending books, games, magazines, or films from ALTEC’s collection or simply practicing speaking another language with a patron, our student staff is dedicated to helping others acquire new languages. We allow for patrons to schedule time to practice speaking a language with our student employees. Contact altec@colorado.edu to set up an appointment.

Students can check out equipment with their Buff OneCard such as microphones, projectors, speakers, batteries, laptops, video cameras, photo cameras, and more. You can search the catalog to see what's available. The library offers students a place to study for both quiet individual work and group projects. Both Mac and PC desktops are available for student use. Students may also reserve the tutoring room (Hellems 152B, in the back of the PC Classroom) or the Hellems 159 Cube for a private meeting space. These rooms may be reserved by contacting altec@colorado.edu.

Recording Studio

ALTEC's state of the art recording studio, located in the backroom of ALTEC 152, is available for students to reserve and use. Contact altec@colorado.edu to set up a time to use the studio.
